The technical specification for the Hierarchical Data Format Version 3.2 format is divided into several plain ASCII documents:
HDF3_2_T.TXT is the HDF document's title page.
HDF_TOC.TXT is the document's table-of-contents.
HDF.TXT introduces the HDF format.
HDF3_2_I.TXT includes HDF overview information and describes the differences between HDF Versions 3.1 and 3.2. Hierarchical Data Format (HDF).
HDF3_2_1.TXT is Chapter 1, NCSA HDF Basics.
HCF3_2_2.TXT is Chapter 2, Storing Raster Images.
HCF3_2_3.TXT is Chapter 3, Storing Palettes.
HDF3_2_4.TXT is Chapter 4, Storing Rectangular Gridded Arrays of Scientific Data.
HCF3_2_5.TXT is Chapter 5, Annotating Data Objects and Files.
HDF3_2_6.TXT is Chapter 6, NCSA HDF Command Line Utilities.
APP_A.TXT is an appendix which describes the tags that are used in the HDF specification.
APP_B.TXT is an appendix which lists the HDF routines.
HDF3_2_0.TXT is another Version of the routine list included as Appendix B (APP_B.TXT).
These files document earlier versions of the HDF format:
HDF_01.TXT is draft documentation of HDF Version 3.2.
HDF_02.TXT documents HDF Version 2.1 (5/91).
HDF_03.TXT documents HDF Version 2.0 (1/93).
HDF_04.TXT documents an earlier (11/90) version of HDF.
